    That the time-sensitive Presentation from Harrison Whilsmith, Planner A, concerning an alteration at 72 Simcoe Street North be added to the Heritage Oshawa meeting of April 20, 2023. (Requires 2/3 vote of members present)

Harrison Whilsmith, Planner A, provided a presentation concerning a 2nd submission application for official plan and zoning by-law amendments at 70 King Street East.

Members of the Committee questioned the Planner A.

    That a 70 King Street East Development Application Working Group be created in order to address Section 4B of the Work Plan to provide comment on the Development Application; and,

    That the Working Group consist of three members of the Heritage Oshawa Committee; and,

    That John O'Boyle, Alan Willison and Diane Stephen be appointed to the Working Group; and,

    That John O'Boyle be appointed as Chair of the 70 King Street East Development Application Working Group.

Harrison Whilsmith, Planner A, provided a presentation concerning an alteration at 72 Simcoe Street North.

Members of the Committee questioned the Planner A.

    1. That, pursuant to Report HTG-23-25 dated April 13, 2023, the cost of procuring a Heritage Oshawa branded canopy tent be funded from the Office Materials and Supply account of the 2023 Heritage Oshawa Budget in an amount not to exceed $1,750; and,
    2. That, pursuant to Report HTG-23-25 dated April 13, 2023, Heritage Oshawa select a colour to be used for the branded canopy tent.

The Chair of the Heritage Oshawa Inventory and Register Working Group advised that the database and input sheet have almost been completed but needs corrections and photos.

The Chair of the Evaluation of 4681 Old Simcoe Street Working Group met and discussed the merits of the property but concluded it is an interesting piece of property but does not believe it is worth a research report.

Patty Davis assumed the Chair. 

The Chair of the Brochures Working Group provided a verbal report stating that the brochure is on hold until ED-23-80, concerning the Heritage Oshawa By-law gets approved by City Council they will not meet because the information in that document is pertinent to the Working Group.

    That a Centennial Brochure Working Group be created in order to develop a brochure for the 2024 festivities as outlined in  Section 6B of the Work Plan; and,

    That the Working Group consist of four members of the Heritage Oshawa Committee; and,

    That Robert Bell, Patty Davis, John O'Boyle and Diane Stephen be appointed to the Working Group; and,

    That Diane Stephen be appointed as Chair of the Centennial Brochure Working Group.

The Durham Region Cultural Heritage Conservation Orientation Session was very informative and the members who attended connected with other members from Heritage Advisory Committees. Heritage Oshawa members were able to see what other Committees are currently doing which gave them ideas of how they can engage the Community more within the City of Oshawa.
