The City of Oshawa is situated on lands within the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Anishinaabeg and the signatories of the Williams Treaties, which include the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Alderville First Nations, and the Chippewas of Georgina Island, Rama and Beausoleil First Nations.


We are grateful for the Anishinaabeg who have cared for the land and waters within this territory since time immemorial.


We recognize that Oshawa is steeped in rich Indigenous history and is now present day home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people. We express gratitude for this diverse group of Indigenous Peoples who continue to care for the land and shape and strengthen our community.


As a municipality, we are committed to understanding the truth of our shared history, acknowledging our role in addressing the negative impacts that colonization continues to have on Indigenous Peoples, developing reciprocal relationships, and taking meaningful action toward reconciliation.


We are all Treaty people.

  • Recommendation

    That based on Report OAAC-25-24 dated November 13, 2025 concerning a Site Plan approval application from Oshawa Centre Portfolio Inc. for lands located at 419 King Street West: 

    That the passenger loading zone is designed in accordance with O.A.D.S., including, but not limited to, the side access aisle and signage.

  • Recommendation

    That based on Report OAAC-25-25 dated November 13, 2025 concerning a Site Plan Approval application from J.L. Richards & Associates Limited for lands located at 2271 Harmony Road North: 

    1. That tactile walking surface indicators (T.W.S.I) be provided at top of all flights of stairs; and,
    2. That all accessible doors at entrances are controlled by power door operators or motion/sensor sliding doors.
  • Recommendation

    That based on Report OAAC-25-26 dated November 13, 2025 concerning a Site Plan Approval application from Hossack & Associates Architects Inc. for lands located at the northwest corner of Townline Road North and Whitelaw Ave: 

    1. The exterior path of travel, to have a minimum clearance width of 1800mm; and,
    2. That all exterior paths of travel less than 1800mm in width have passing areas measuring not less than 1800mm by 1800mm at intervals of 30 metres or less; and,
    3. That all accessible doors at entrances are controlled by power door operators or motion/sensor sliding doors.
  • Recommendation

    That based on Report OAAC-25-27 dated December 4, 2025 concerning a Site Plan Approval application from Umiak Investments Limited/Durham Catholic District School Board/ Moffet & Duncan Architects inc. for lands located at the northeast corner of Britannia Ave. E. and Coppermine St:

    1. That tactile walking surface indicators (T.W.S.I) are provided where curb ramps and depressed curbs are located on the external path of travel and at the end of each accessible access aisle in accordance with O.A.D.S.; and,
    2. that all accessible doors at entrances are controlled by power door operators or motion/sensor sliding doors.
  • Recommendation

    That based on Report OAAC-25-28 dated December 4, 2025 concerning a Site Plan Approval application from Batory Planning + Management on behalf of Maple Brook Acquisitions for lands located at 390 Ritson Road North:

    1. That the cross and running slopes of accessible parking spaces are at a maximum of1:50 (2%); and,
    2. That all accessible doors at entrances are controlled by power door operators ormotion/sensor sliding doors.
  • Recommendation

    That the Oshawa Accessibility Advisory Committee 2026 Meeting Schedule as set out in Report OAAC-25-29 be adopted as recommended.

  • Recommendation

    That Report OAAC-25-30 concerning the O.A.A.C.’s 2025 year-end accomplishments be received for information and included in the Council Information Package.
